Career

Creativity & Innovation are the two things that consistently define John’s career. From the early days of e-commerce at IBM in the 90’s to the birth of online media at DoubleClick a few years later.

In 2004 he started social media agency Urbanology, which won clients like Discovery Networks and Reed Business awards for the first YouTube campaigns and virtual worlds in 2007. After selling this agency in 2009, he started 3sixtyfive in 2010, one of the first influencer marketing agencies in the world.

From creative campaigns in the early days to recent innovative strategic influencer programs, John kept on innovating and winning awards for clients like Danone & Toyota. Both for effectiveness (Effie) and creativity (Lovies).

In 2022 3sixtyfive continued as Endeavour which had grown into a full-service digital agency with about 200 FTE’s. As Strategy Director and Social & Influencer Marketing expert, John worked for brands such as ABN-AMRO, Catawiki, BMW, Knab, Randstad, KPMG and Unicef.

Industry expert

As a pioneer in digital and social, John has alway been active to move the industry itself forward. He’s been founder and chairman of the Taskforce Social within the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) and board member of IPAN (Interactive Professionals Association Netherlands).

Currently he’s active as judge at the Lovie Awards and Fonk Coolest Dutch Brands.

Speaking

John is a much sought-after speaker on A.I. & influencer marketing. He is lecturer at Beeckestijn Business School, host at Emerce TV and his podcast: What’s Next in Influencer Marketing.

Speaking and inspiring others on leading (international) conferences is something John has been doing with endless passion and energy for over 20 years. In 2024 it was time for a new chapter in his career and John decided to fully focus on speaking and consulting.
